Verification error; content mismatch

I'm thinking one of my lights is dead. I'm getting an error:

avrdude: verification error, first mismatch at byte 0x0000
0x62 != 0x0c
verification error content mismatch

I've done some reading and some people are suggesting part of the memory is corrupt with an error like this. I was using the light with Vectr, moved over to Arduino and tried uploading a sketch, it didn't work, I noticed a battery was still inside I thought was empty, could it have shorted the board and killed the light? Luckily I have one more spare, this will be two problematic lights I have now. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? Perhaps resetting the light back to factory defaults?
